			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="pod">In 1999, Phil Lesh came back from a liver transplant with a vengeance.  It really was the beginning of a viable &#8220;life after the Dead&#8221; which moved beyond the Furthur Festivals. On this tour he co-headlined with Bob Dylan, and each night they switched up who opened.</p>
<p>It was during the first of the 4 shows I caught on this tour that Dylan pulled out a surprise during his set by playing West LA Fadeaway with Phil on bass.  There&#8217;s a lot of good stuff from this tour and I&#8217;ll get to some more later, but this was the kickoff from my point of view, so without further adieu &#8211; here it is:</p>
