This was the exact moment I saw that there can be life after the Dead. My first vibes, and on the 10th anniversary of Jerry’s passing there was this 5 hour Garcia tribute, with many guests packing the stage. The music was stellar all the way around, but the ah-ha moment for me was Dark Star Orchestra being joined by Keller Williams (and others) for this smoking Scarlet > Fire. People were dancing, the music was playing, and you didn’t even need to close your eyes to think you were transported back to a Dead show. The odd little vocal things going on in both tunes is also kind of unique. For me the whole thing works and I’m amazed to put this in my bag of favorite Scarlet > Fires along with the Saratogas and others of yore.
